Driving Miss Daisy (1989)

Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman star in the 1989 Academy Award Best Picture Winner about an old Jewish woman in the south who forced to have a driver after a minor car wreck.

Tandy won the Best Actress Oscar as well, making her the oldest winner to date (81 years). Surprisingly Dan Aykroyd did a really good job in this dramatic role, as apposed to the comedic performances he is known for.

The film handles some racial and otherwise difficult subject matter in a fairly light mood. The plot progresses well and the timeline progresses at a rate that can be hard to follow at times. There are no dates and it is hard to realize they have been together 10+ years at one point. I'm thinking this is the point, showing that these two spend 1/2 a lifetime together and it passed like nothing.

Just a quality film all around. Many spoofs over the years may fog the reality of how good this film really is.
