If you are like me and think that Will Ferrell is hit-or-miss, then you will think this one is a miss. With sidekicks Anna Friel (basically unknown) and Danny McBride (Pineapple Express, Drillbit Taylor, and Superbad), this is a silly remake of a once popular children's tv show.The problem is that the show really wasn't that good, not a lot of people remember it, and the cast does not match up with the old cast. The humor of the Sleestak is hard to get unless you have seen [and remember] the tv show.
There are a few funny moments by Ferrell but overall this is just an awful film. There is a lot that is not funny and there is not much substance to the film. The only thing I will remember about this film is the feud with Matt Lauer. That was pretty funny.
Just find a clip of Lauer being in the film on YouTube and skip this one.
