Winner of three Oscars at the 1987 awards show, art direction, costumes, and adapted screenplay. It was nominated for five others including picture and director, and it lost to Platoon [you won't hear me arguing that decision].
This film is the screen debut of Helena Bonham Carter who plays opposite Julian Sands for the lead roles. Supporting characters feature Daniel Day-Lewis as an almost unrecognizable pompous socialite and Judi Dench as a novelist. Also Maggie Smith, as Charlotte, you might remember her from the Harry Potter series.
The film is a romance about a young girl who travels with her Aunt to Florence, Italy. In their hotel they find themselves "without views," when the Emerson father and son exchange their rooms it becomes clear that Lucy has a thing for George.
Good acting, fantastic costumes, set, etc. but just not a film made with me as a target. Probably really good if you like romances, but I'll pass.
