The Crowd (1928)

Probably the best silent film that I have seen in some time. If you don't watch silent films then you might not realize that the vast majority of them are pretty depressing and are not shy to take on difficult subject matter.

This film is about "Making it in the crowd." A young man moves to the big city after his late father tells him he will be a great man some day. Trying to get a break at his company he marries, has a couple kids, then after a tragic accident he becomes directed at work, and loses his job. The film is all about how difficult it is to make it in the big city. There is a lot of dialogue between the arguing parents, and the story is pretty entertaining.

Definitely worth checking out.
