This is a musical about the final night of the American Radio Show "A Prairie Home Companion." I actually remember hearing this show once or twice growing up, it is an interesting idea. A radio show that you can actually attend live, there is a host who narrates stories and reads commercials between musical performances. With an all-star cast of Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Kline, John C. Reilly, Meryl Streep, Lindsay Lohan, and Lily Tomlin you would think this film would be more entertaining.It exemplifies exactly why the show was being cancelled. It was too slow for entertainment, it has been replaced by television variety shows and radio shows that are easier to produce.
I don't think this ever needed to be made into a movie, and the cast was better than the roles they were given. Small roles, big performances... not worth your time at all, I passed on watching this for over 4 years and should have passed completely.
